The craniosacral system includes the bones of the face, skull, spine and sacrum (tailbone) as well as the fluids and membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, which houses our central nervous system. All these elements pulsate in a symmetrical rhythmic motion in our body. This fluid motion is important to nourish our spinal cord and brain and acts like the “dishwasher” system cleaning out toxins and waste.
Accidents, illness, inflammation, accumulated life stresses, tension, trauma (including birth trauma), surgery or poor posture can unbalance these structures and cause our tissue to become tight, tense and inflexible. These patterns are reflected through the craniosacral rhythm as disturbances, blockages or restrictions. These restrictions can manifest anywhere in the body- from aches and pains to feeding difficulties for newborn babies. By balancing the cranium, the body can be in balance and functional optimally. -
Primitive reflexes are essential movements that help support our early development.
As our brain matures, these reflexes should integrate. Sometimes under times of stress, these reflexes can re-emerge and have surprising effects on our function.
Some common areas that retained primitive reflexes can effect:
Learning: reading, focus, attention, and processing information
Structure: poor posture, muscle tone, balance, coordination, strength
Behaviour: emotional regulation, social interaction, self-awareness, over-reactions

An Activator is a specialised handheld adjusting instrument. It delivers a precise HVLA (High Velocity Low Amplitude) adjustment to specific areas of your body, specifically the joints of your spine and extremities.
If you've been hesitant about traditional chiropractic treatments that involve manual manipulation (by hand), you'll be excited to know that this technique doesn't involve any forceful movements, or twisting or turning of your body, offering a more approachable and comfortable experience for those who prefer a more gentle approach. This tool is ideal for children or people who don’t want too much force when being adjusted.
-
Chiropractors are highly trained and skilled in delivering manual adjustments. These are the more traditional techniques where your body is moved to tension and then a short HVLA thrust (high velocity, low amplitude) is applied to move a stuck joint. Not only does manual adjusting release tension and pressure in the body, but it also helps neurological input to the brain.
Chiropractors adapt the amount of force and speed to the person in front of them— taking into account patient size, preference and comfort.
-
This technique is a gentle and precise chiropractic method that uses a specialised drop table to deliver fast, low-force adjustments without twisting. As the chiropractor applies targeted pressure, the table segment briefly drops to assist the movement, creating an effective yet comfortable adjustment. This technique is ideal for sensitive patients and allows for accurate spinal, pelvic, and extremity corrections while keeping the body in a neutral, relaxed position.

Visceral Manipulation is a gentle hands-on therapy that helps your internal organs move and work better. By lightly working on the tissues around the organs, it aims to release tension and restore normal movement. This can improve how the organs, their systems, and the whole body function together.

Our chiropractor uses a range of gentle techniques to target the sacrum, pelvis, and supporting ligaments to reduce nervous system stress, ease discomfort, and support optimal baby positioning (especially in breech cases) creating a safer, more comfortable environment for birth.
It involves assessing pelvic balance, performing a light sacral adjustment, releasing key pelvic ligaments and muscles, and gently adjusting the pubic symphysis. All techniques are non-invasive and designed to be comfortable for the pregnant patient. Our Chiropractor has special pillows which makes laying down on our table easy and comfortable.

Our Chiropractor uses trigger pointing, muscle release, IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation), and taping to assist muscle and tendon healing. These techniques compliment and support the adjustments and may be used on your child during their visit.
